DAVID ST JAMES and Friends complete the 3 Peaks Challenge
DAVID ST JAMES company directors and friends are extremely happy after exceeding the £20,000 target thanks to peoples great generosity to a total of nearly £30.000 for the Ruth Myles unit at St George's Hospital in London who were so amazing at looking after our friend Anthony Lake-Johns.
The challenge was to climb 3 of the UK’s highest mountains (Ben Nevis - Scotland; Scafell Pike – Cumbria (England); Snowdon - Wales) in 24 hours, Covering over 30 miles walking, 3300m climbing and 600 miles driving and we are happy to report all three summits were reached.
Anthony Lake-Johns was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia last year at the age of 32. He was admitted to the Ruth Myles unit of St.George’s Hospital, London. After completing his first phase of chemotherapy, he continued as a day care patient. Tony caught swine flu and after a short battle in intensive care passed away on the 25th August 2009. Just days after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, he wrote to ‘CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA’ "I have recently been diagnosed with Leukaemia is there anything I could do in order to help.”
Tony was determined to help others and raise money for the Ruth Myles unit. His dream was to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge with all his friends this year and as Tony is no longer with us we took on the challenge on his behalf and memory.
Please continue to give to help others.
